Deb Allan not only shared this recipe, but prepared this dish for the UIHC December 2016 Bariatric Surgery Support Group Meeting. It was a hit with the attendees, and there was much discussion around protein, eggs and whether to make it with the crust or without it. My take is that the crust (typically pie crust) is nothing more than refined carbohydrates…and it’s absolutely not necessary to have in your diet. Others pointed out that the crust would totally be within the carb allowance in the post surgery diet.

Crust vs. No Crust…it’s a big debate. I think it really comes down to knowing what a successful way of eating is for you.
